"(É) Cecilia Rodrigo gave us her support from the beginning. She liked our idea and our approach and encouraged us to pursue it. The documentary traces the life of the Maestro over the course of the twentieth century together with his viewpoint of the era in which he lived. We tried to avoid making a conventional biography and our aim was to offer a film that would interest a wide audience, including non music-lovers.."

RODRIGO: PASOS Y HUELLAS EN LA OSCURIDAD (Steps and footprints in the Darkness)

Documentary entitled: Rodrigo: Pasos y huellas en la oscuridad (Steps and footprints in the darkness)
Written, directed and produced by Javier D’ez Moro for Rius Producciones Cinematográficas and ADI Produccions

Premiered on December 12, 2001, TVE, Channel 2.

"Spanish Televisi—n recalls Joaqu’n Rodrigo on his centenary year.

(É) The author, Javier Diez Moro, combines elements that are strictly biographical and documentary with others such as ballet and dramatic narration in an effort to bring to light different aspects of the composerÕs inner world.

The result is an aesthetically modern program , "far removed from the clichŽs of the world of classical music", staged in a surrealistic style that is perfectly suited to the dense and allegorical universe in which the composer lived immersed in a world of shadows and lights since he lost his sight at the age of three. (É)"

ABC, 30/12/01

"(É) To depict the inner world of Joaqu’n Rodrigo, the documentary sets up a space on stage in a surrealistic style that uses dance to express memories, emotions, and ideas. In this space we are witness to RodrigoÕs inner world, his childhood, adolescense, his early years in Sagunto and later Valencia, Paris, Germany, Madrid. Love, anguish, creation Éhis entire life. (É)"
