JOAQUÍN RODRIGO RESEARCH PRIZE

The Vice-Chancellorship of the University of Madrid Extension and the Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation, with the goal of encouraging research on the life and thought of Joaquín Rodrigo, and to promote the study of his musical production, are sponsoring the Joaquín Rodrigo Research Prize with the following requirements

RULES

1) The following may participate in this competition: Professors, students enrolled for the 2000-2001 academic course, non-teaching staff of the University, all Spanish and foreign post-graduate students in public or private universities, as well as all those in Conservatories.

2) The works submitted (unpublished and not submitted in any other competition) must be written in Spanish.

3) The originals must have a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 150 pages.

4) The works must be submitted to the Vicerrectorado de Extensión Universitaria, Pabellón de Gobierno, Calle Isaac Peral, s/n, 28040 Madrid.

5) The deadline for presenting originals is July 31, 2001.

6) The originals, typed with double spacing on standard-size pages, must be submitted with seven copies in a closed envelope, marked on the outside "Joaquín Rodrigo Prize", together with the title or pseudonym of the author. Inside another closed envelope bearing the same title or pseudonym, the name, address and phone number of the author should be indicated.

7) The jury, composed of 5 members, will be named by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid together with the Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation. At least two of its members will be representatives of the UCM and one for the Victoria and Joaquín Rodrigo Foundation.

8) For the jury to meet and to deliberate, a majority of its members must be present.

9) The jury's decision will be announced in the first three months of the 2001-2002 academic course.

10) The winner will receive a prize of 500.000 (five hundred thousand) pesetas.

11) The winning work will be published by the Vicerrectorado de Extensión Universitaria and will be presented in a public ceremony.

12) The originals that do not receive the prize may be retrieved until May 1, 2002. Those that are not claimed will be destroyed.

13) The jury, apart from its duty to award the prize and announce its decision, choosing either to award the prize or declare it vacant, will also have the authority to interpret the rules. The jury's decision is unappealable.

14) All those who decide to participate in this competition must fully agree to abide by the present rules.
